The works of art below were created during the "Create Your Own" Self-Portrait hands-on activity in the galleries during the exhibition Mirrored Images: Realism in the 19th and 20th Centuries.  Inspired by the many portraits on view, visitors of all ages were invited to make their own self-portraits by looking carefully in a mirror.

The works of art below were created during the "Create Your Own" Concentric Colors Drawing hands-on activity in the galleries during the exhibition Absorbed by Color: Art in the 20th Century.  Inspired by the many abstract works of art on view with shapes of different colors and sizes "nested" inside one another, visitors of all ages were invited to make their own original drawings experimenting with concentric shapes and colors.

The works of art below were created during the "Create Your Own" Party Clothes Collage hands-on activity in the galleries during the exhibition Long Island Biennial 2012.  Inspired by the mixed media artwork Mother Earth's Party Dress by Ginger Balizer-Hendler on view in the exhibition, visitors of all ages were invited to design their own party outfit using a broad range of collage materials.

The works of art below were created by eighth grade students of Joanne Moss at Brentwood East Middle School. The students visited the Museum for a Museum Discovery Program during the exhibitions A Way With Words: Text in Art and Coming of Age in America: The Photography of Joseph Szabo and were then inspired to create these mixed media works of art back at school under the guidance of their art teacher.

The works of art below were created during the "Create Your Own" Letter "H" Collage hands-on activity in the galleries during the exhibition A Way With Words: Text in Art.  Visitors of all ages were invited to create their own original collages using many copies of the letter "H" in different fonts and sizes.  Some visitors also incorporated copies of the "bear" from the painting Give Up That Egg by William Holbrook Beard, on view in the exhibition Across Time and Place: Treasures from the Permanent Collection.

The works of art below were created during the "Create Your Own" Still Life hands-on activity in the galleries during the special exhibition Edward Weston: Life Work. The activity was inspired by Weston's photographs of everyday items such as peppers, cabbage, and shells. Visitors of all ages were invited to create their own drawings of still life objects set up for them to observe in the central gallery.

The works of art below were created during the "Create Your Own" Mona Lisa Art hands-on activity in the galleries during the special exhibition Identity Crisis: Authenticity, Attribution and Appropriation. The activity was inspired by the work of Paul Giovanopoulos on view in the exhibition. Visitors of all ages were invited to create their own version of the Mona Lisa.
