Museum Discovery Programs

REGISTER NOW for the 2012-2013 School Year!

The widely-acclaimed Museum Discovery Programs (formerly called School Discovery Programs) are designed to offer teachers and students enriching curriculum-based opportunities to explore art and creative expression. Each grade-specific program is conducted by a professional museum educator in the Museum galleries or in the school classroom.

REGISTRATION

Advanced registration is required for ALL programs.

Spaces fill quickly.  Call as soon as possible to ensure your preferred date and time.

SCHEDULING

IN MUSEUM Programs: You visit us.
Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.  90 minutes (Grades K-1: 60 minutes).  Two groups (max. 25 students each) may be accommodated at one time.
            AM Session: 10:00 am - 11:30 am
            PM Session: 12:00 noon - 1:30 pm

IN SCHOOL Programs: We visit you.
Monday - Friday. 90 minutes (Grades K-1: 60 minutes). Times are flexible. Two groups (max. 25 students each) may be accommodated at one time.

NEW! TWO-PART Programs: One IN SCHOOL Program and one IN MUSEUM Program scheduled in succession.

NEW! VIRTUAL TOUR Programs (Grades 7-12 only): Monday and Tuesday.  90 minutes.  One group at one time only.  Call for more information.


FEES

IN MUSEUM Programs: $10.00 per student

IN SCHOOL Programs: $225 per group; 5 groups+: $200 per group

TWO-PART Programs: $425 per group; 5 groups+: $400 per group

VIRTUAL TOUR Programs: $175 per group; 5 groups+: $150 per group
         
Fees include Museum admission (if applicable), museum educator instruction, Special Exhibition Resource Guide for Teachers and student art supplies.


RESOURCE GUIDES for Teachers

A guide is developed specifically for teachers for each two-gallery exhibition on view September through June*.  Prior to the program date, art and classroom teachers whose students will be participating in an IN MUSEUM Program are e-mailed the resource guide for the special exhibition students will view.  Guides include artist biographies, exhibition summaries, full-color artwork images, vocabulary, web resources, and suggested pre- and post-visit activities.
