To celebrate the reopening of the Heckscher Museum following its recent renovation, this installation will feature highlights of the collection including many works that have not recently been exhibited. From Lucas Cranach's Virgin, Child, St. John the Baptist and Angels, 1534, the oldest work in the collection, to Olafur Eliasson's Your House, 2006, the most recent, European and American works from all periods will display the range of the Museum's collection. This installation will also mark the much-anticipated return of the Museum’s most famous work, George Grosz’s Eclipse of the Sun of 1926, which has been out of the Museum for almost two years for conservation and exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
This installation has been selected by Chief Curator of Collections and Exhibitions Dr. Kenneth Wayne and Collections Assistant Lisa Chalif.
