The Lockhorns meet Howard Huge: Comic Cartoons by Bill & Bunny Hoest

October 6, 2017 - November 5, 2017

Leroy and Loretta Lockhorn and the aptly named St. Bernard, Howard Huge, have entertained readers across the U.S., and around the world, for decades. Ever-bickering Leroy and Loretta regale us with a hilarious satire of married life, while lovable Howard Huge charms even the most reticent viewer with his good-natured antics. Both comics were created by Bill Hoest, one of the country’s most prolific and successful cartoonists; since Hoest’s death almost three decades ago, they have been continued by his wife Bunny, known as “The Cartoon Lady.” Internationally syndicated, it is estimated that “The Lockhorns” and “Howard Huge” reach almost 200 million readers a week. The Heckscher Museum salutes this achievement and is honored to recognize Bunny and the memory of Bill Hoest as our Celebrate Achievement Benefit artists for 2017. Featuring five dozen cartoons, The Lockhorns meet Howard Huge is a barrel of laughs.
