Congratulations to Jessica Rosen, The Heckscher Museum’s Curatorial Assistant. Rosen was recognized as a Class of 2026 Honoree for the ‘Celebrate Long Island’s Young Professionals’ Award from the Huntington Chamber of Commerce.
Rosen joined the Museum staff in 2023. In a short time, she has worked on a number of exciting exhibitions, written impactful collection spotlights for Heckscher.org, and led several programs for members and the public. Most notable, she curated the exhibitions Embracing the Parallax: Berenice Abbott and Elizabeth McCausland, and Lines of Influence: Artists Teaching Artists, opening March 29.
Rosen developed a multi-part project dedicated to documenting voices, stories, and materials that might otherwise be lost, ensuring that they remain accessible to both the Museum and the public. This work has taken shape through several interconnected efforts, including documenting oral histories of key contemporary artists in the Museum’s collection, leading an internship program focused on digitizing institutional scrapbooks, and ensuring comprehensive documentation of objects and artists in our in off-site storage.
After completing her Bachelor’s at Colgate University in Studio Art, Rosen went on to pursue her Master’s at Maastricht University in the Netherlands, in the program Arts and Heritage: Policy, Management, and Education. Her thesis was titled “An Open Book with Multiple Readings: Feminist Museology explored through the Elizabeth A. Sackler Center for Feminist Art.” Jessica is a visual artist and curator, with her practice rooted in feminist and queer theory.
The Chamber of Commerce award honors those individuals under 30 who are making a difference on Long Island, noting that honorees “are ideal role models for our Long Island communities. [Their] commitment to the betterment of our community and business is awe inspiring.” Congratulations to all the honorees!
The awards will be presented on March 26 at The Larkfield in Commack, NY.
