School may be closed, but The Heckscher is open! Children in grades 2 through 5 are invited to explore works of art from our extraordinary exhibitions and then create original works of art inspired by what they see. Participants will be given individual attention and work in a variety of media and techniques. Projects will be brought home at the end of the second day of each workshop. Sign up for one workshop or both!

Workshop I: Going 3-D Fish Frenzy Sculptures
Tuesday & Wednesday, April 7 & 8
9 am – 12 pm
Young artists will imagine and design their own fish sculptures inspired by real sea creatures. Building armatures, painting and decorating these imaginary creatures will be an underwater adventure! This fun project encourages imagination, texture exploration, and basic 3-D construction skills.
Workshop II: Portraits & Printmaking
Thursday & Friday, April 9 & 10
9 am – 12 pm
In this vibrant and creative project, young artists will design a colorful portrait with a bold printmaking background! This two-day lesson combines drawing, pattern design and printmaking techniques to create a one-of-a-kind mixed media project!
