The Museum will be collecting non-perishable food donations March 29 – May 3 for Long Island Cares: The Harry Chapin Regional Food Bank. Pooja Shah’s artwork, Giving Back Is Rewarding, on view in Long Island’s Best: Young Artists at The Heckscher Museum 2026, is interactive and functions as a donation box. We encourage visitors to support this community effort!

A Conversation About Art & Democracy

Inspired by the 250th Anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, join us for an evening of food, conversation, and connection at a Democracy Dinner, hosted by the Huntington Historical Society and Heckscher Museum of Art. Artists from the Museum’s Just Powers: Long Island Biennial 2026 exhibition, will join as special guests, helping to spark conversation at each table, as they share how these ideas shape their work and creative practices, and inviting attendees to offer their own unique perspectives regarding the intersection of art and civic life.

HUNTINGTON PUBLIC ART CRAWL

1 – 5 pm

Join us at the Heckscher Museum of Art during the annual Huntington PUBlic Art Crawl for a day filled with creativity and connection! Explore the exhibition Just Powers: Long Island Biennial 2026 and meet the artists behind the artwork between 1 and 5 pm. Exhibiting artists will be in the galleries to provide insight into their work and answer visitor questions. Artists Michael W. Krasowitz and Wan Ling Fahrer will be in the galleries from 1 to 3 pm. Artist Lori Horowitz will be in the galleries from 3 to 5 pm. Docents will also be in the galleries throughout the day. ART EXPLORERS CLUB: Fountain Fun!
for Ages 5 – 10

9:30 – 10:30 am 

Join us one Saturday each month for Art Explorers! Each workshop offers a new and exciting interactive gallery tour, hands-on art making, stories, and much more. Both English and Spanish speakers are welcome. Kids will explore a variety of different art materials and techniques as they create open-ended projects and let their imaginations soar. On May 30, each child will design their own imaginative fountain using a variety of materials!

$10 per child
Free for members
Registration recommended. Drop off optional for kids ages 6+
