The following resources have been designed by The Heckscher Museum of Art to provide K-12 educators with the tools for successfully integrating the Museum’s Permanent Collection and exhibitions into their classrooms.



Special Exhibition Resource Guides for Teachers

Provided as part of Museum Discovery Programs, Special Exhibition Resource Guides are developed on an ongoing basis, correlating to the Museum’s special exhibitions. Guides include artist biographies, exhibition summaries, full-color artwork images, vocabulary, Internet resources and suggested activities.

Eyes on Art: A Collection Interpretation Game
This hands-on curatorial game for grades 6 through 12 utilizes collaborative learning as students curate their own exhibitions using images of works in the Museum’s Permanent Collection! Full-color laminated cards bring artwork dating from the 16th through the 20th century to life, illuminating the Museum’s role as an interdisciplinary resource. Educator Slide Packets

Focusing on various past special exhibitions, these educator packets are designed for all grade levels K through 12. Packets include slides, background information on artists, related vocabulary, historical context, timelines, suggestions for classroom activities and discussion.
