SUMMER DROP-IN WORKSHOPS FOR KIDS
Wednesdays & Fridays, July 8 to August 14, 2026
10:30 – 11:30 am
Ages 5 – 10
Children ages five through ten are invited to the Museum to create fun works of art in a variety of materials inspired by artwork in the Museum! Each week’s project will be exciting and different. Programs will be held both in the Museum and in Heckscher Park, weather-permitting. No advance registration required.
$10 per child, Free for Members
*Exhibiting Artist Eileen Shaloum will be a Special Guest Artist at the Friday, July 17 workshop! Meet the artist, learn about her artwork, and create your own masterpiece!

Curator-led Tour of Just Powers: Long Island Biennial 2026

Museum Members and Donors are invited to join us for a special after-hours guided tour of the exhibition Just Powers: Long Island Biennial 2026. Join Meredith Brown, Consulting Curator of Contemporary Art and curator of the exhibition, and Andreas Rentsch, 2026 Biennial Juror, photographer, Associate Professor of Photography and Chair of the Art Department at Lycoming College, Williamsport, PA, for a deeper dive into this juried exhibition of work by artists from Suffolk and Nassau Counties. Meredith and Andreas will discuss the exhibition themes, the selection and curatorial processes, and other “behind the scenes” elements of the exhibition.

ART WITHOUT BARRIERS: CELEBRATING THE ADA
Free Community Event in the Museum & Heckscher Park

Join us for this free community event celebrating the 36th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)! This gathering was created in collaboration with Heckscher Museum’s Accessibility Advisory Group and welcomes everyone. It was created with and for the Deaf community, blind and low vision community, individuals with developmental disabilities, people who are neurodivergent, and people of all ages and abilities. Enjoy a vibrant selection of hands-on and interactive art activities and sensory experiences designed for all types of learners both inside the Museum and outside in beautiful Heckscher Park. Whether through touch, sight, sound, movement, or creative expression, there’s something meaningful for every participant to explore, create and connect.

SUMMER COMMUNITY DINNER
Art + Community = Democracy

5 – 8 pm
Inspired by the 250th Anniversary of the Declaration of Independence and the Museum’s 100th Anniversary of Eclipse of the Sun by George Grosz, this community dinner brings people from all walks of life together around a shared table for an open and welcoming conversation on shared experiences, art, civic life, and freedom under the summer stars.
This evening will feature cuisine from Brasas Peru Bistro Bar, which gives guests the opportunity to enjoy foods and flavors that reflect the many cultures and communities of Long Island. The Museum will also offer extended gallery hours, with select Biennial artists in the galleries from 5-6 pm to speak with visitors near their artwork and share insights into their creative practices. From 6-8 pm, everyone is invited to gather for a community dinner outside the Museum. Seating and meals will be available while supplies last. Whether you come with friends, family, or on your own, we warmly welcome you to pull up a chair, share a meal, and connect with others through art, conversation, and togetherness.

We are so moved by the enthusiasm and warmth you’ve shown for our Summer Community Dinner Series! Pre-registration for all three evenings has now closed, and we are so grateful to everyone who signed up. That said, our doors remain open to all. Walk-ins are warmly welcome—no registration required. This is a pay-as-you-wish event, so come as you are and give what you can. Seating and refreshments are available on a first-come, first-served basis, so we encourage you to arrive early to secure your spot.
DRAW OUT! COMMUNITY ARTS FESTIVAL

Join us for a day of creativity in the Museum and Heckscher Park! Enjoy a broad array of activities designed for all ages. Docents will be in the galleries to bring the artwork to life! The first 100 attendees* will receive free art supplies!
Enjoy watercolor painting by the pond, live music in the park by The Time Travelers and art activities for the whole family with communities partners including: The Atelier at Flowerfield, Half Hollow Hills Community Library, Huntington African American Museum, Huntington Historical Society, Huntington Public Library, Mathnasium of South Huntington, Protégé Art Studio, Spirit of Huntington Art Center, Town of Huntington Anti-Bias Task Force, Town of Huntington Asian American Task Force, Town of Huntington Hispanic Advisory Task Force, and Vanderbilt Museum & Planetarium.
