Powers: Long Island Biennial 2026 Artists Announced

Opening May 16, 2026

Congratulations! Powers: Long Island Biennial 2026, a juried exhibition featuring exceptional art from contemporary artists across Suffolk and Nassau Counties, has announced the final list of exhibiting artists. The Museum received 597 artwork submissions from 261 artists. This year, artists were tasked with responding to the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence or the Centennial of George Grosz’s masterpiece of political art, Eclipse of the Sun (1926).

The result is an impactful group of 73 works of art accepted from 69 artists.  The artists chosen represent the breadth of communities across Long Island stretching from Valley Stream to Montauk.

Jurors for Long Island Biennial were: Tripoli Patterson, founder and owner, Tripoli Gallery; Lauren Rosati, Associate Curator, Department of Modern & Contemporary Art, The Metropolitan Museum of Art; and  Andreas Rentsch, photographer, Associate Professor of Photography, and Chair of the Art Department, Lycoming College, Williamsport, PA.
