SUMMER DROP-IN WORKSHOPS FOR KIDS
Wednesdays & Fridays through August 14, 2026

Ages 5 – 10
Children ages five through ten are invited to the Museum to create fun works of art in a variety of materials inspired by artwork in the Museum! Each week’s project will be exciting and different. Programs will be held both in the Museum and in Heckscher Park, weather-permitting. No advance registration required.

We’re serving up delicious fun this summer, every Friday, 12-4 pm, with snacks and thirst-quenching drinks on the Museum terrace. Come for the bites, stay for the art, and experience summer like never before!
Seating on the terrace is accessible year-round and includes wheelchair accessible/ADA approved tables. The Museum Palette Café Cart is generously supported by Discover Long Island.

Join us for a day of creativity in the Museum and Heckscher Park! Enjoy a broad array of activities designed for all ages.Â
Enjoy watercolor painting by the pond, draw from a live model with Benjamin Herbert, meet and create with LI Biennial exhibiting artists, and listen to live music in the park by The Time Travelers. Art activities for the whole family with communities partners including: The Atelier at Flowerfield, Half Hollow Hills Community Library, Huntington African American Museum, Huntington Historical Society, Huntington Public Library, Mathnasium of South Huntington, Protégé Art Studio, Spirit of Huntington Art Center, Town of Huntington Anti-Bias Task Force, Town of Huntington Asian American Task Force, Town of Huntington Hispanic Advisory Task Force, and Vanderbilt Museum & Planetarium.

Workshops for Kids
Entering Grades 2 – 5
Monday – Thursday, August 24 – 27, 2026
9:30 am – 12:30 pm
School may be closed, but The Heckscher is open! Children are invited to explore works of art on display in the Museum and then create original works of art inspired by what they see. Participants will be given individual attention and work in a variety of media and techniques. Projects will be brought home at the end of the second day of each workshop. Sign up for one or both! Bring a snack and water bottle. Registration required. Space is limited.
