Discussion

While reading The Snowy Day by Ezra Jack Keats, we see Peter go on adventures in the snow. He experiments making all different kinds of footprints in the snow, he has a snowball fight with the big kids, and even climbs a tall, snow covered hill!

Keats is not only the author of The Snowy Day, he also illustrated it! An illustrator’s job is to create art that helps to tell a story. Keats created the character Peter, and we get to learn about what he does on a snowy day! As you’re reading along, imagine having a snowy day like Peter. Would you go on all of the same adventures? Would you be alone or with a friend? If you had a snowy day like Peter, what kind of adventures would you go on? Let’s imagine what kind of things we would do and create our own artwork!
